The Ramayana series that went viral! This is the series of 7 books, written by Geeta Kasturi, that went viral in 2022. Written over ten years, overcoming a debilitating situation with arthritis, Geeta learnt Awadhi and literary level Tamil to write a comparison of the three main Ramayanas of the world. The original, written by Valmiki in Sanskirt, formed the foundation on which she drew out key strands from Goswami Tulasidas' Ramacharitmanasa in Awadhi and Kamban's Ramayanam in Tamil. Set in the 1950s, in Mannivakkam, the tiny satellite village of Chennai, India, this book is a collection of gently humorous stories. Exploring life in mid 20th century rural Tamil Nadu, these stories capture the nostalgic charm of simpler times.
